Now that you have moved into your new home and the holiday season is officially among us, it’s time to think about decorating. So, to help you get started, your local Clay County contractors with A&M Home Builders have listed 5 useful tips on decorating your home for the holidays.
Tip #1: Focus On Your Curb Appeal
Your curb appeal is important because this is the first impression your home makes on someone. Using the holiday season as a way to update the exterior aesthetics of your home whilst also being festive is an excellent way to add some holiday cheer.
Consider putting up Christmas lights on your home or a wreath on your door to give the exterior of your home a more personal feel. You can even place poinsettias on your front porch to add some natural red and green décor.
Tip #2: Use LED Lights
Moving into a home is a major financial expense, so as a new homeowner, you may not be in the best spot to splurge on a lot of new holiday decorations. This is why it can be useful for you to purchase LED lights. Now the upfront cost is a little more expensive than traditional lights but they are about 80% more energy efficient. This means LED lights will not shoot your electric bill through the roof because it uses less energy to burn and it lasts longer than your traditional lights.
Tip #3: Use Gifts As Décor
If you have moved into our Ellie home, you can use the stairs inside as a decorating platform. Line each step with a present to add some charm inside your home. If you moved into any of our other homes, you can take more of a traditional approach and place the Christmas presents around your tree or throughout your living room instead.
Tip #4: Go With A Theme
A useful tip when decorating your home is to be consistent with a theme. Making sure your decorations resemble a similar style can give your home a cleaner look. Whether you want to go with a vintage design or a modern one, try to stay consistent.
Now we all know that some of the most traditional Christmas colors are red, green, and gold, but a trending color this year is also blue. Don’t be afraid to add a splash of blue throughout your home to create a more whimsical feel.
Tip #5: Don’t Forget The Bedroom
Christmas decorations are supposed to be bright and dazzling in every room, so don’t forget about the room where you sleep. Wrap some Christmas lights around your bed frame or put a tree up in the corner of the room to add more of a festive feel.
If you’re a light sleeper, make sure you purchase a timer for these lights so they turn off when you want to go to sleep.
