Green Cove Springs is a quaint town in Clay County that is located just south of Fleming Island. This area has major developmental promise and is the new up and coming area to live.
The town of Green Cove Springs was founded in 1871 and is charmed with a touch of vintage and class. When walking around, you will step back in time while you observe some classic style B&B and vintage looking homes.
A gorgeous community park sits along the St. Johns River and is covered with beautiful oak trees, making this the ideal spot for a picnic or afternoon stroll. The park has a fenced-in playground for young families and a nice community pool to cool off in. An actual spring flows directly into the community pool, pumping it with clear freshwater. The spring then continues past the pool and flows directly into the river.
The city is not only named for the local spring that flows through the town, but it is also named “Green” due to the lush vegetation that surrounds the area. When walking throughout the city, you will notice big beautiful trees and shrubbery everywhere—making the views picturesque and the air fresh.

Very few chain establishments have encompassed the city, which means most restaurants and cafes are locally owned businesses. Sweet Sensations is a delicious café that serves a variety of fresh soups and sandwiches, as well as mouth-watering homemade pastries.
If you are looking for a lovely cup of coffee, you can walk directly from the park or community pool to ‘Spring Park Coffee’. Be sure to check their sign out front because if your name is on it, then you get a free cup of joe.
Looking for a delicious Italian meal? Then head right next door from the coffee shop into D’Fontana. This hole in the wall restaurant serves amazing pasta and is guaranteed to leave you stuffed with a smile on your face.
On the other side of town is the Clay County Fair Grounds, which always has different events going on. From vintage furniture shows to Scottish Festivals to the Town Fair, there is always something for the entire family to enjoy.
